'Jaws' the Shark Hunted Down

Jaws 1975The star of "Jaws" has been found resting in a Los Angeles junkyard.

No, not Richard Dreyfuss -- the shark! With the 35th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's classic blockbuster just around the corner, an NPR reporter set out to track down the mechanical beast that struck fear into the hearts of so many.

In order to maximize their control over the creature, the "Jaws" filmmakers built three sharks for their 1975 movie. All created from the same mold, the sharks were dubbed "Bruce" after Spielberg's lawyer, Bruce Ramer. The gigantic metal creatures were 25-feet long and weighed hundreds of pounds. The heads alone came in at 400 lbs. apiece, with jaws the size of a small human.

Arrest Warrant lifted for Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay LoahnHours after an exasperated Beverly Hills judge said Lohan had "no valid excuse" for missing the hearing and issued an arrest warrant, Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told Reuters that the actress' legal team had posted bail of $100,000.

That is the amount the judge had set as bail for Lohan, in a routine procedure in the U.S. legal system that allows an accused person to avoid jail by providing money that would be forfeited if the individual became a fugitive.

Earlier in the day, Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, told the judge that Lohan was stranded in France when her passport was stolen at the Cannes festival. Holley said Lohan now has a new passport. It is not known when she will return to Los Angeles.

Lohan's new fashion accessory: Alcohol Monitor Bracelet

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan’s fashion sense may sometimes be in question, but this week all eyes are on an unusual bangle strapped to her ankle.

Lohan's “SCRAM” bracelet (really an anklet) is the latest result of her years of tangling with the law. She has been on probation since 2007 on drug- and DUI-related charges. When she missed a recent probation hearing — she claimed she was stuck in Cannes (hey, who isn’t?) because her passport was stolen — a Los Angeles judge on Monday ordered her fitted with the alcohol monitor, the Associated Press reported.

D.A. May have grounds for Lohan Warrant

It's solely up to Judge Marsha Revel, who has already made it clear ... she will issue a bench warrant if Lindsay doesn't show up for her probation progress report tomorrow ... and as we first reported, Lindsay will not be there.

Lindsay claims her passport was stolen and she's getting a replacement tomorrow.

We're told Lindsay will not be arrested when she lands at LAX ... it's a misdemeanor warrant and she'll almost certainly be allowed to turn herself into the court.

Our D.A. sources say the prosecutor in the case will scoff at Lindsay's excuses for not completing her alcohol ed classes and for not appearing in court.  As one source said, "She needs to feel the consequences, and jail could end up being a good thing for her."
